DESIGNING YOUR OWN SIGNAGE

Concevoir panneau signalisation Kalitec
1. Do the preliminary graphic artwork for the panel based on available panel sizes.

Note:
• Opt for pictograms when possible.
• White or light lettering on a dark background is more visually appealing and effective than the reverse.
• Use CONCISE wording.

Option:
With or without personalized logo.

  2. Calculate panel size.
• Calculate the distance D in meters between the sign unit and the reader.
• Calculate letter height H in millimeters with the formula: H mm = D m * 3
• Calculate panel height based on letter height H* in mm and the preliminary graphic artwork.
* H is the minimum height of the smallest text on the panel.

  3. (Optional) Check the readability of the artwork at full size at the site using a cardboard mock-up.

  4. Produce the final artwork artist based on available panel sizes and shapes.

  5. Select the type of sign unit (ExakTM, UptekTM, GalvanikTM, Securi-KTM).

  6. Estimate the height of the sign unit.

  7. Estimate the number of posts by taking the higher number yielded by one of the following two options:

• Use the design calculator to estimate the minimum number of posts for the unit.
• Based on panel width:
750 mm panel - = 1 post
900 mm + = 2 posts
1800 mm + = 3 posts.

Note: a two-post sign unit is generally the most visually appealing.
